This 1,000 ft shed will be transformed from an industrial fabrication shed to one of the more iconic structures of the park. The shed will be a unique place for visitors to gather and enjoy the Park.
The 40,000 sq ft Event Lawn will be the ultimate place of gathering in the West Overlook area of the park. A large open grass space that can be used for relaxing and enjoying a day out at the park, or can be transformed into a large outdoor event venue to host events, festivals, concerts, classes, and more.
The, almost 1-acre, skate and bike park will be one of the largest in Dallas. The terrain and elements will provide the ultimate challenge and fun for skate and bike enthusiasts.
The Land Bridge will be another iconic area of the park. This landmark bridge will allow visitor to cross over Beckley Avenue and connect them to the overlook lawn, the levee and the river.
After crossing the Land Bridge, visitors arrive at the Overlook Lawn. Higher in elevation than the levee, the lawn has a beautiful view of the Dallas skyline and the Trinity River. We expect this to be one of the most photographed places in the park.
The Picnic Grove is located towards the east end of the Shed, hosting a cool shaded area for family gatherings. This outdoor dining area will include community style tables and charcoal grills for visitors to have picnics, cookouts, or family reunions.
The filter gardens will be an innovative water filtration system where cascading water is naturally cleaned and filtered to create a very bio diverse collection for watering plants.
The Water Factory is composed of pipes and towers that create the ultimate cool-down experience using interactive water play. A circle of tall deciduous trees and planted arbors above benches provide shaded seating for parents, families, and park-goers watching children play. The water used in the Water Factory will be collected in an underground cistern and used for site-wide irrigation.
Take a walk, in nature, as you stroll through the beautiful West Overlook Terrace Garden. With a wide range of different plant species and flowers, this area is one of the more unique and beautiful features of the West Overlook.
The event center will be a state-of-the-art architectural building with a welcome center, educational classrooms, and an upper-level rooftop, with a view of the Dallas skyline, that can host public and private events.
The Play Cove will be the ultimate place of play and discovery for Harold Simmons Park. The imaginations of both kids and adults will run wild exploring wetlands, a cable ferry, and 2-story interactive towers, with bridges, slides, and other climbing features. From the upper level, visitors can see full views of the park, including the play and wetland areas. Beneath the Play Cove are shaded seating, bathrooms, and concessions.
Grab a bite to eat, relax, and enjoy views of the park and the Dallas skyline from one of the park’s local cafes.
